After calculating your embedded emissions in the calculator's CBAM tab, what's next? In this guide, we explain exactly what the draft declaration template generated by the platform's CBAM tab contains, how to generate it, and — most importantly — why this document does NOT substitute for an official declaration.

The "Download Declaration Template" feature in the calculator's CBAM tab converts your calculation result into a three-section PDF:
1. Declarant (Exporter) Information: Company/declarant name, tax ID/office, facility/installation name, country of origin.
2. Product and Embedded Emissions Information: Product name, CBAM sector, CN code (entered manually), the sector's CN code range (indicative), exported quantity (tons), reference year, total embedded emissions (kg CO2e), and embedded emissions per ton of product.
3. Estimated CBAM Certificate Cost: An estimated cost calculated using the EU ETS reference price (€72.5/ton CO2e).
1. Run the calculation in the CBAM tab: In the calculator's CBAM, PCF & Risk tab, enter your product type, exported quantity, and reference year, then click "Calculate."
2. Fill in the additional declaration fields: Enter your CN code (confirmed with your customs broker), country of origin, and facility/installation name.
3. Click "Download Declaration Template": The template is automatically downloaded as a PDF pre-filled with your company information, product details, and calculated emission values.
4. Review the PDF and share it with your customs broker: The document serves as a starting point for internal preparation and discussion with your broker before an official submission.
As clearly stated on every page of the generated PDF: this document is NOT an official form that can be uploaded directly to the EU CBAM Transitional Registry — it is only an internal DRAFT for preparation/summary purposes. The CN code is entered manually by the user (the platform only offers the sector range as an indicative reference) and must always be confirmed with your customs broker before an official submission. The methodology used (IPCC AR6 GWP-100 multipliers, coefficients from our Bibliography page) consists of engineering approximations; an official declaration may require a verified emissions report.
The CN (Combined Nomenclature) code ranges the platform offers as an indicative reference for each CBAM sector:
